Each paint manufacturer offers several different level of products from lower quality paints up to the ultra premium paints that perform differently. Every interior or exterior painting contractor also has a preference of what product they prefer to use and so does each homebuilder.
Paint contains much more than just color. It blends different amounts of resins and pigments together so a premium paint can hold up to many years of use. Interior paint is designed not to rub off when you scrub it, and it should resist mildew, stains, and other sources of damage.
Pigments and colorant are the ingredients that give paint its color.
Additives give the paint extra properties, such as mildew resistance.
The quality and amount of all these ingredients and solids will change the quality level of your paint as a whole. Paints with a higher titanium dioxide pigment percentage will give better coverage, for example.
Which Brand is better? Unfortunately, there’s no simple answer to this question. It’s truly a matter of personal preference. Each manufacturer offers high-quality products at a variety of price points, but the slight differences between manufacturers mean interior paint reviews are so close the differences are to the smallest degree. Quality of the paint matters more than brand, and each of these 3 brands offers a variety of quality levels. So be sure to ask your contractor what quality level of paint will they be using on your project?
